Psalm 45:10, 11, 14, 15: “Listen, daughter, and pay careful attention: Forget your people and your father’s house. Let the King be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for He is your Lord. In embroidered garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions follow her, those brought to be with her. Led in with joy and gladness, they enter the palace of the King.
How perfect are these verses for us as abuse survivors? “Forget your people and your father’s house.” I don’t think this means to actually forget (although some of us would like to) but rather to let them go and move on to our Heavenly Father, with whom there is no abuse. He has only love for us. The scripture says that He is enthralled by our beauty. I looked up the definition of enthralled: “absorbing, engaging, fascinating, intriguing and inspiring.” And as this picture demonstrates, there is nothing but freedom and joy in running to Him as our King and I must also add, to our Father. So when we are feeling dirty and ashamed, may we remember those are lies of the enemy…..the truth is that we are beautiful and precious to our REAL “Daddy,” the “Daddy” that really matters.
