True Beauty

“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.” 1 Peter 3:3-4

I love this verse and its powerful reminder that is so needed in this physical world. As a woman, I am tangibly aware of being bombarded with images that cause me to feel insecure about myself. I “know” they are airbrushed models but does that always stop me from comparing myself and failing? No, it doesn’t. However, if I focus on my walk with the Lord and cultivating the qualities of God's Spirit, I can have more TRUE beauty than the hottest model on the cover of a magazine AND we are told that it’s a beauty that never fades in the eyes of God. I have also found that developing a gentle and quiet spirit can and will capture the heart of my man. Let’s face it, if we follow God’s counsel to women, our lives will have much more peace and acceptance. While focus on outer beauty can cause much distress, the quest for inner beauty will never let us down.
