Sufficient Grace

“He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.” 2 Timothy 1:9 NIV

As I read the many scriptures that there are about grace, I never stop being blessed by the fundamental truth that they all either hint at or come right out and say……Grace, has nothing whatsoever to do with me! Grace frees me from the prison of perfectionism and legalism. I can relax a little because I can never “get it right” no matter how hard I try. I am full of sin and imperfection. But, THANK YOU JESUS! That doesn’t matter. Does it matter that I LOVE the Lord and show that love in my life and actions? Of course it does. But will it ever BE enough? Absolutely not!

2 Corinthians 12:9 New International Version says, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” Today, as I am tempted to beat up on myself because I could have done “better” or I could have done more, may I remember what is sufficient… Him and not me!
