"In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God." Psalm 62:7 New King James Version
There are so many scriptures in God’s Word that tell us we do not have to be vulnerable and in scary places alone. I love the visual of the Lord being our rock. I envision huge rocks and crags on the beach with large waves pounding them. And yet they are immovable and unaffected.
When life pounds and beats us, if we run to the Lord and take refuge in Him, we can never be swept out to sea or caught in an undertow. I have learned from experience that when I seek refuge in Him, the pounding waves cause me no fear. In fact, the verse above says that God gives us glory when we turn to Him for salvation in troubled times. And as Psalm 34:19 promises, “The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.” May we turn to the Lord in times of pain and heartache and let Him deliver us.
People react in different ways to crisis. It seems you either turn to the Lord, or against Him. And the result is you either get better or bitter. – Greg Laurie
