Give it All, Have it All

Philippians 4: 6-7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Again, I love the absolutes these verses speak in. “Be anxious for NOTHING…..” Boy!

That’s a tall order and yet comforting too. We can choose to be anxious but we don’t have to be. I think of how often I deny myself peace because I don’t take my worries and concerns to the Lord. When I read the word supplication, I envision being on my knees in desperation and probably with tears. I then looked up the definition and it is “the action of asking or begging for something earnestly.” So, when we are feeling desperation and our anxiety is through the roof, remember, we don’t have to be in the middle of it alone. We are told to let our requests be made known to God and as a result, His peace will guard our hearts and our minds.

The Bible says that the Lord’s peace “surpasses all understanding.” That’s because we can have it in the midst of circumstances that should cause our hearts to be devoid of peace of any kind. It’s been my experience that when I DO surrender all my fears to Him…my world, my heart and my mind, experience a calm, a respite that is the sweetest, the warmest place I can be.

So, in this hectic and tough world that we live in, take comfort and remember that we don’t have to carry our anxieties. We can give them ALL to Him and as a result, we will be guarded by His peace through Christ.
