I wanted to take a moment to talk about the name of this ministry. I am sure that you have figured out that “Daddy” is our Lord. The “little girls” are us. The reason this is so important is because when we were abused as children, it directly impacted our trust in God’s love for us and His faithfulness to protect us. When we become adults, that wounded child is still alive and well and dictating how we live our lives. And she is doing that through the filter of the bad messages we received through our abuse.
“You are no good.” “You are worthless.” “You don’t deserve anything good.” She believes these messages and makes decisions that fulfill those false statements. She chooses the men that treat us badly. She makes the financial decisions that sabotage our success. And most importantly, she tells us we can’t trust our heavenly Father, leading to a life full of pain and hopelessness.
The key to changing these messages is to begin nurturing her and getting healing for her/our hearts. As this happens, she will begin to receive the correct messages. “I deserve to be loved and treated with respect.” “I deserve financial success.” “I have value.” And “My heavenly Father loves me and IS looking out for me.” As these messages begin to sink in, the decisions we make regarding the people we bring into our lives, the financial decisions we make and our walk with the Lord, will become healthier, life affirming ones.
I will write more in the future about how to begin nurturing and healing our inner child.
